MidWest Americans
США
Добавлен 7 дек 2020
We are a couple from the Mid-West of the United States, specifically the state of Missouri. We do reaction videos, trying out food from other countries, do quizzes, challenges, and overall just try to learn about other countries and cultures other than our own. We just have fun learning about other places and sharing our insights from our area.

Canada is part of British Commonwealth -IT IS NOT IN AMERICA. Its like saying Mexico is in America - always makes me laugh 😂😂😂😂
Are you guys taught in school that all other countries love and adore you?
Because the USA is a new country, to built their own nationalism as quickly as possible their education system is designed to ignore everything but history of USA. Ignorance is the fastest way to convince masses into something. They even call the English language Ametican.
You mentioned "recognizing the accent" but a lot of Europeans, especially the ones who don't regularly watch US media in the original language wouldn't be able to differentiate accents. They might be able to tell you're not British, but US or Canada? Nope.
The fabric colors are called tartans and they are family colors
Just as this may not be obvious. If that's a measuring jug sent from the UK, be very aware that just because measurements have the same name, doesn't mean they are the same. Just like 1 Canadian dollar doesn't equal 1 USA dollar, the pints are also different. 1 imperial pint = 568.261 millilitres 1 American pint = 473.176 ml 1 imperial pint = 20 imperial fluid ounces 1 American pint = 16 American fluid ounces 1 imperial fluid ounce = 28.413ml 1 American fluid ounce = 29.574ml 1 American gallon = 3.78 litres 1 imperial gallon = 4.54 litres So a pint of beer or a pint of milk in the UK imperial measurements is 20% larger approximately than their American equivalent despite having the same name
"What is Custard?" You'd likely call it pudding. Pudding is from bodynge, which meant a meal boiled inside an animal intestine. The earliest forms include the ancestor of black Pudding, which is like a blood sausage with oatmeal and other things added. Later on, sweet versions arose like Christmas pudding, which is essentially a Christmas fruit cake boiled in a bag, then soaks in alcohol for a few months. At Christmas you then pour alcohol over the top and set it on fire. Not an exaggeration though please watch videos so you don't burn the house down. It's hard to explain. As a result, primarily the word pudding is now used as a synonym for "dessert", "eat your broccoli or no pudding, we're having apple pie and custard" The USA uses the word pudding very differently. And it uses it to describe 3 different things. A gelatin based pudding the UK calls jelly. Think of Jell-O. A starch based pudding in the UK is called a blancmange (approximately said blommonj) An egg based pudding is called a custard. The main difference is which thing thickens it. The shape and size and name of the sponge pudding is from the fact they were originally made in water tight animal intestines. But the whole thing has enough asterisks to think it was a paper target at a shooting range. Some desserts are called puddings in the same way the USA uses them. Some things like Yorkshire pudding are neither dessert nor meat based. Some areas only call warm desserts pudding, and call ice cream or cheesecake dessert instead. Different regions will have long standing exceptions to all that. But that should mostly help. As for consistency, thickness. It's a bit like gravy, or tea. Adjust to your own tastes. Some add extra things like extra vanilla extract, or cook it longer, or like it runnier. A big thing about tea and gravy is "how do you have it?" Help me bring the teas into the dining room, this is milk and 3 for your mum, this is strong, milk and 1 for your dad, I'll bring in the milk and 1 sweetener and black with 4 sugars for the neighbours. Is going in your mouths at the end of the day. Experiment, have fun, why not?
And yes you did make things overly complicated, but you didn't grow up doing it so often that you were on autopilot. It's the same with the cutlery. Yes you're going to get some judgemental comments from folks, who think you're uncivilised. I'm curious if they're naturally adept at using the different types of chopsticks. It's an easy cheap laugh to judge folks for things they never grew up with. Some folks are oddly impressed I can use chopsticks. It did not come naturally. Sometimes it's been so long I need to remember how to hold them and practice a bit before it all comes back to me. It's a learned skill. Not seen any youtubers going as far as trying the utensil methods. So all those saying that you look like a toddler, well maybe I look like a toddler to people who grew up with chopsticks. So what? It doesn't stop me, though. Don't let it stop you. Curiosity in cultures is highly underrated. Keep up the enthusiasm
Good reaction. I don’t think Bob does stand-up.
The Rebel war was between traitors and loyalists. It is so trivial to the history of Britain that it is not taught. Most of us learn most of the history we know after school. If it was taught in school, the US would be taught as treacherous enemies. Does the US teach that loyalists were murdered, their assets stolen and the people driven from their homes?
With ref to the british police, in the uk the laws are the same ,not like america has different laws in each state, plus our police don't mess about , i should know i used to be one
I live in Salford,uk, there’s lots of places within an hour and half, the lake district is amazing, we stay in a small village called Grassmere , it’s very central for everything, also city of York, much more too
It was never a parody of Jesus, but some of his brainless followers. Contemporary examples would be American Evangelicals.
i think it makes more sense for someone to go to the UK from Spain if they are learning english. Or they may want to make sure they fit better into a multinational business.
These are just the ‘accents’, wait till you hear the dialects… ;-)
As about that guy who wanted not to be around foreigners.. are you sure that she understood him well? On her position I would just recommend him some location which is visited by tourists so rarely that he would be most likely only foreigner around. That's what I understand he wished for. And I do understand him.
I am Australian, my first introduction into the world outside Australia was at school, 1973, 10 years old, 4th Grade watching a 16mm colour film about Japanese Whaling in grotesque detail, I was shocked. We had watched Black & White TV of news events but there was all local broadcasted events within our country as there were no desire by the TV broadcasters to show international events. I wouldn't count anything from movies or cartoons as they were all fictional lies but later I found out that even most of the TV news turns out to be fictional lies as well. We are all guided to believe certain things so that society is easily pacified where we are kept under control. The govt doesn't really want anyone thinking for themselves because if someone gets too smart on how the ppl are being used as slaves then ppl will revolt. To give you an example in regards to what recently happened with a debate that made one person look like they need to be sent to an old person's home as they have lost their mind, well if that person or party somehow wins the selection then if ppl are awake then there will be a huge revolt.
Great show kids.from old brit vet.
You should look in the geography now!

The vast majority of the Dutch people do NOT like to live there. I’ve been several times in the USA, I know what I am talking about.
You should get booked up for the worlds, amazing
A Bit late but PLEASE acknowledge that people <say 25 years of age have only really been aware (as adults) of a Trump President, then Biden and constant culture wars in the USA where each political side has been saying bat crap crazy stuff about each other. A divided America where crazy is the new normal. The world as well as us watches this stuff you know. Pre 2000, even as late as say 2015 most people in the UK especially in the 90s and earlier thought the worst thing about Americans was they were a bit loud but overall allies and if we met them, friends. P.S Britain didnt copy the USA (jokes) we are the OGs of only speaking 1 language..the old joke is that the only reason we conquered so many other countries was A. because our food was so bad and B because it was easier than elarning so many new languages.....This sorta worked out in the long run for us at least.
An American was asked if he enjoyed looking around Windsor Castle. He said yes it was great but such a shame that they built it so close to the airport. Doh
Pity the commentator turned out to be a cheating p3rv3rt.
British English and US English are two diffrent English langs. the USA has a LOT of lazy spellings. here is some examples. Some spelling changes make sense some do not Center = USA English Centre = British English Color = USA English Colour = British English Gray = USA English Grey = British English Then there are words like Aluminium How the USA say it = Al - loom- ma - num How The UK say it: Al - You - min - you - um
As a retired maths teacher I am appalled at American education. I have hear American graduates not knowing 7x6, and they think that a quarter of an hour is 25 min. And there 9 minutes in a metre!!! Where is the Panama Canal? My classes of 9 yr olds were better educated. Honestly I did despair, these were college students - from nursery?? These were not one off answers they were repeated time and time again. A student teacher thought that the country that had Paris as the capital was Italy
"Yeah, but you won't be billed when you walk out the door." That's even worse, you just have to sit around anxiously for an undetermined period of time worrying how much it's going to be, and then I could end up being way more than your worst guess.
bro google this, what happened to the priest and nuns of russia 1918
my dad was in the Black Watch as was his granddad
Re European history. I was on skiing holiday in Colorado from UK. I got talking to a guy on the chair lift who said “I’d love to go to England for the history.” When I commented on American history he said “Oh! that only does back 200 or so years, not like England which goes back to pre Roman." When I said “What about the history of indigenous Americans?” His response, “Oh! that doesn't count.” WT actual F? guys!
The logs are called cabers. Best Wishes from Scotland. When you watch them live I guarantee you'll be overcome. Proud to be Scot!! ❤
I have met many Americans here and as you say, that they’re American is for the most part obvious so I’m more Intrested in the state because it gives me a better picture. America is huge and not the same in all states. If you’d say “American” I don’t think Mexicans or Brazilians would agree, and probably not the Canadians either to be called Americans. North American or South American maybe.

Hi! New on your channel! I like America a lot and have been there several times on business and vacation. I live in Sweden 🇸🇪. When it comes to history it’s like you basically read American history while we read history. I guess that in part is responsible for the lack of knowledge about world history for some. When it comes to green cards not many Europeans at least, want one. Even if Europe has its issues they are not as severe as the US problems. There is really nothing that would make me move to America 🇺🇸 . I’m happy to visit again though! And yes. English in schools all over the world. In Sweden’s schools the second language taught before WWII was German. Now it’s English it you can learn a third language and after Spanish German is still fairly popular.
It´s not just the pipes that makes the sound unique, the snare drum in a pipe band has double snares which give it the distinctive crack.
The weird fact that this is HIS video is confusing. He still believed that he was in the right afterward and had the upper hand and uploaded it to brag about it is kinda scary . . .
Wish there was more music than comment!
Isn't it amazing to be exposed to other music than what you hear on 'everyday' American radio music? There is oh so much more music out there than what you listen to everyday. So much world wide music that will blow you away with their sound.
When something is said to be the massed pipes and drums it means all the groups play together. The kilt colours are defining the clans the families or bands belong too. The guys in front are the different pipe majors. The person leading the individual bands.
There are more cameras in the streets of London than any city in the world. These Chinese tourists were filmed every time they left their hotel.
USA don't have an official language.
You've both confirmed what he's getting act 😂
That staff holder is referred to as a male vagina.
Hi there - love your channel. Quick comment: When you travel to other countries... you are the foreigner. Keep up the outstanding work ♥
I always say US citizens and never Americans, because there are other countries in North America and don't forget Central America and South America.
Canadian here, so I'm used to this attitude. But, what annoys me the most is how US filmmakers will make the US Forces the heroes of war and other historical movies, when either a number of countries were involved (the Allied Forces) or it was straight up another country's story to tell.
The sad thing is that you let the stupid people travel
My grandfather was in the Scot’s Guards in ww2, I’m looking at a restored, blown up picture of him on my wall as I’m typing this, I knew him who I was very young, wish I’d known him better
My grandfather was in the Scot’s Guards in ww2, he wasn’t a piper or anything but I can’t tell you it’s amazing to see and hear the pipes live, also seeing any British regiment marching live is amazing
